Why should I purchase the GolfSafe Secure Plan?

You've saved, you've waited, and now you're all set to go on the trip of your life. Preparing for your trip includes protecting yourself from unfortunate occurrences that threaten to interfere with even your best-laid plans. By purchasing an GolfSafe Secure Plan, you can help reimburse yourself for cancellation penalties, medical costs, baggage loss and delays, as well as gain access to a wide range of traveler's assistance services.

Did you know that an GolfSafe Secure Plan could protect your travel investment if:

    • You become ill and can't travel
    • Someone in your immediate family (as defined in the plan) has an illness or injury, even if they aren't scheduled to travel with you
    • Your child comes down with an illness and is unable to travel
    • You have to cancel because your house becomes flooded due to a hurricane
    • A family member back home passes away and you must return from your trip early
    • Your luggage is lost by the airlines
    • You get sick or injured on your adventure and have to consult a doctor while traveling

    What does it cover?

The GolfSafe Secure and GolfSafe Secure Plus Plans cover both pre-trip and post-departure benefits, including the following:

    Trip Cancellation
If you must cancel your trip for a specified reason, the plan provides reimbursement for your TOTAL TRIP COST.

Eligible reasons include illness, injury or death to you, a traveling companion or an immediate family member. Additional reasons for cancellation include jury duty, subpoena, your residence made uninhabitable by a natural disaster or being involved in a documented traffic accident en route to departure.

Trip Cancellation for Any Reason (CFAR) – available on GolfSafe Secure Plus Plan ONLY.

If You cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered, the Company will reimburse You for 75% of the prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable Payments or Deposits. Certain restrictions apply. See the GolfSafe Secure Plus Plan description for more details.

    Trip Interruption
If you must interrupt your trip for a specified reason, the plans provide reimbursement for your prepaid unused non-refundable trip costs.

    Trip Delay
If you should miss the departure of your vacation due to carrier-caused delays or other eligible reasons, the plan reimburses you for additional accommodations, meals and "catch up" transportation expenses.

    Itinerary Change
In the event a Cruise/Travel Supplier makes a change in Your Trip itinerary after Your actual departure date that prevents You from participating in an event/activity pre-paid prior to departure and scheduled on Your Trip itinerary, nonrefundable pre-paid event/activity expenses.

Medical Protection, Emergency Medical Evacuations and Repatriations
If you become ill or are injured while on your trip, the plan may reimburse you for out-of-pocket medical expenses incurred while traveling, including physicians, xrays, lab tests, therapeutic services, prescriptions, and emergency medical transport to the nearest appropriate medical facility.

Medical coverage while traveling overseas may be particularly important as Medicare and certain HMOs may not cover medical expenses incurred outside the U.S.

Baggage Protection and Baggage Delay Coverage
Reimbursement for covered loss, damage, or theft of baggage and/or personal effects during or while in transit to or from your adventure, as well as reimbursing you for the purchase of necessary items in the event your luggage is delayed en route to your trip.

    Golf Obligation
For beverage expenses purchased from the clubhouse, if during your trip, you or a traveling companion makes a hole-in-one on a official registered Golf Course measuring over 4,000 yards with a par rating of at least 68 for 18 holes of play, provided beverages are dispensed by an employee of the club that is affiliated with the Golf Course where the hole-in-one took place.

    Loss of Golf Rounds
If you are unable to Golf due to the inability to complete play on at least 9 holes of an 18 hole round due to weather during the round where the club management expressly cancels or puts your Golf round on delay or suspension for more than 3 hours on the day of play the Company will reimburse you (on a pro-rated basis) for the value of your pre-paid Golf tickets or greens fees for each day of the loss of Golf during your Trip.

    Sports Equipment Rental
Covers the reasonable cost of renting sports equipment during the trip if, while on the trip, your checked sports equipment is lost, stolen, damaged or delayed by a common carrier.

    Property Damage
For direct physical damage to covered real or personal property within the unit you occupy while on your trip.

    Optional Collision Damage Waiver
If You rent a car while on the trip, and the car is damaged due to collision, theft, vandalism, windstorm, fire, hail, flood or any cause not within your control while in your possession.

Please refer to the GolfSafe Secure Plans for details, including plan-specific terms, conditions, exclusions and coverage limits.

Will my current home, renters, credit card, or health insurance policies cover my trip?

Due to territory restrictions, many other insurance policies may not offer any coverage while you travel. Other policies may offer partial protection; however, due to benefit limits, co-insurance and deductibles, you may not be reimbursed for the full amount incurred. Some people do not have any insurance coverage that covers the cost of their vacation if they must cancel their trip. The GolfSafe Secure Plans contain travel benefits that credit card, homeowners and renters insurance policies may not offer. The medical coverage included in the GolfSafe Secure Plans is absolutely vital for people whose health insurance policies (Medicare, certain HMOs, etc.) may not pay for medical expenses incurred outside of the United States or may not cover transportation charges due to medical emergencies.

Is there help while I'm traveling?

One of the valued benefits offered in the GolfSafe Secure Plans is the 24-Hour Worldwide Emergency Assistance Service. With On Call International you have 24-hour access to a highly trained, multilingual staff to assist you with emergencies such as cash transfers, lost documents, and medical or legal referrals. On Call will also coordinate any medically necessary emergency medical evacuations, including air ambulance transportation, hospitalizations, medical case management and monitoring.

I have a pre-existing medical condition. Why should I buy the plan?

Even if you have a medical condition that you might consider pre-existing, you should still consider purchasing an GolfSafe Secure Plan, as some medical conditions would not be considered pre-existing under the terms of the policy. The policy only excludes those medical conditions that manifest, became acute, exhibited symptoms or required medication within 60 days of your purchase of the plan. The pre-existing condition exclusion is not applied to emergency medical evacuations or repatriations.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

Please contact your travel agent, tour operator and our plan administrator as soon as possible in the event of a claim, as the plan will not reimburse for any additional charges incurred due to a delay in notifying your agent or tour operator of your cancellation. What if bad weather is predicted where I plan to travel? Will the GolfSafe Secure Plans refund me if I cancel my trip?

No. There is no reimbursement for trip cancellation due to weather predictions. However, the plan does provide trip cancellation reimbursement if weather causes a complete cessation of all common carrier services for 24+ hours or if a natural disaster at your destination causes your accommodations to be rendered uninhabitable. The plan also includes travel delay coverage if weather causes your delay for 12+ hours.

How do I get reimbursement if my bags and/or personal items are damaged/stolen/lost while I am traveling?

First, obtain verification from the appropriate authority to whom you reported the loss (for example, airline, tour operator, hotel, transportation official, police, etc.). Also be sure to save any store receipts you may have for the original purchases. Upon your return home, request a claim form by contacting our plan administrator at:

Submit all applicable reports and receipts, along with your claim form and responses from any other responsible parties (common carrier causing the loss, homeowners policy, etc.).

If I require medical care while on my trip, are my medical bills covered?

The plans provide reimbursement for covered medical expenses incurred while traveling, for an illness or injury that first occurs during your trip.

In the event of a claim please contact our Plan Administrator at:

Upon receipt of completed claim forms and all necessary documentation, payments for eligible claims can generally be generated within 15 business days.

    Phone: 1-866-753-1002 (option 2)
Hours of operation: 8:30am-5:00pm ET Mon-Fri

Who is a covered "Family Member" under the plan?

A Family member includes Your or a Traveling Companion's legal or common-law spouse, parent, legal guardian, step-parent, grandparent, parents-in-law, grandchild, natural or adopted child, step-child, children-in-law, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or Business Partner who reside in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

What are the covered medical expenses if I become sick or injured while on my trip?

The GolfSafe Secure Plans provide coverage for a vast array of medical expenses which could be incurred as a result of a sickness or injury. The plans provide Accident and Sickness Medical and Dental Expense benefits for necessary services and supplies which are recommended by the attending physician. Covered medical expenses include the services of a legally qualified physician, surgeon, graduate nurse, dentist or osteopath; charges for hospital confinement and use of operating rooms; charges for anesthetics (including administration); x-ray examinations or treatments and laboratory tests; ambulance service; drugs, medicines, and therapeutic services and supplies.
