Examples of Covered Reasons*

Covered reasons are outlined by your plan and decide what can be covered. Remember, exclusions outlined in your policy can affect covered reasons.

Sickness, Injury or Death
Common Carrier Delay/Cancellation due to unannounced strike, mechanical breakdown, or inclement weather
A hurricane warning being issued for your trip destination
Residence or destination made uninhabitable
Workplace rendered unsuitable for business
Involuntary termination of employment
Permanent transfer of employment (250 miles or more)
You are required to serve on a Jury
Being hijacked or quarantined
Life threatening illness/injury or death of your host at a destination on your itinerary
Traffic accident while en route to departure
Bankruptcy or default of travel supplier (other than the travel agency, organization, or firm from whom you purchased travel arrangements supplied by others)
A Terrorist Incident
Documented theft of passports or visas
Military personnel called to emergency duty for a national disaster other than war
Revocation of previously granted military leave or reassignment due to war
Mandatory evacuation (or official public evacuation notices or recommendations without a mandatory evacuation order issued) due to bad weather or natural disaster

Trip cancellation is effective until the scheduled departure date and time of your trip. If you are unable to continue your trip for a covered reason, but travel has begun, you may qualify for trip interruption.

You can receive up to $150 for the cost of airline-imposed fees for rebanking frequent flyer miles. Your trip must be cancelled for a covered reason as outlined in your plan.

You will first contact your travel supplier –– the airline, cruise line, tour operator, etc. You’ll cancel your trip through them, and then you’ll contact TravelSafe’s claims department online, by phone, email, or fax by the date of departure.

If you are filing a Cancel for Any Reason claim, you’ll need to contact TravelSafe 2 days before your scheduled departure date.
